substances (PFAS)
The so-called “forever chemicals”, are found in many consumer wearables. This is reason for concern, as PFAS can be absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream, leading to potential health risks.
In just one example of the prevalence of PFAS, Researchers at The University of Notre Dame found “elevated levels of PFAS in some fitness tracker and smartwatch bands.”
The study’s co-author reported the concentration of the chemicals was “much higher than most PFAS we have seen in consumer products.”
